Plant Metabolism during Water Deficit Stress: A Review

Water deficit stress is one of the chief abiotic stresses adversely affecting plant endurance leading serious effects on metabolism. Depending upon strength and duration water conditions, plants adjust a series physiological, cellular molecular mechanisms aiming correct response. Some responses to include decreased growth development hence decrease in fresh biomass, content chlorophyll rate photosynthesis, leaf relative (RWC) increased accumulation osmolytes like proline, sucrose, soluble carbohydrates, etc. Several enzymes involved carbohydrate metabolism seem play role multi-layered response deficiency. Glycolysis central metabolic pathway that provide elasticity when production energy for existence confronted modulated establish novel homeostasis under conditions plants. Evidence participation glycolytic genes, proteins established by fact their expression deeply affected exposure tissues environmental such as drought. Keeping mind importance during plants, impact drought glycolysis subject current review. In addition, physiology are also discussed.
